Use: Veronicas have flower spikes in cool shades of blue, pink, white, and almost red. They can add a refreshing, hard to find blue color to the midsummer border. Veronicas blend well with other plants and are best suitable for the middle of the border because they tend to lose lower leaves. The flowers are good for cutting.
Culture: Remove the flower spikes as they finish blooming to keep the plants neat and encourage further flowering on secondary spikes. Veronica grows in most garden soils, but won't survive a poorly drained soil in winter. Occasionally divide the plant in spring or fall when needed to retain a neat appearance.
