Use: This species forms a large mat with very branched creeping stems with abundant rosy red flowers produced on reddish stems. Leaves turn scarlet in fall. It makes an excellent groundcover for dry banks or sunny open areas. They are also suitable for rock gardens, edgings or growing between stepping stones. Dragonsblood is attractive to butterflies, especially to domma, milbert's tortoiseshell, painted lady, and red adriral butterflies.
Culture: 'Dragon's Bloos' is sort of invasive and needs to be kept weeded. The plants can be transplanted anytime during the growing season. It will probably need dividing about every third year to maintain it in the border.
