Boyer Park on the Snake River(08/18/07)11/19/07

Here are some pictures of our 08/18/07 trip to Boyer Park on the Snake River in eastern Washington a short distance from the Idaho border. This is an RV park and marina with an area for camping with tents.

BOYR 001. This is a shot through the windshield as we head down the road towards Boyer Park.
BOYR 002. Here is another.
BOYR 003. Another.
BOYR 004. The road is starting to get a little steep as we descend down to the river.
BOYR 005. Here is another.
BOYR 006. More curves and here is our first sight of the river.
BOYR 007. A look out the side window.
BOYR 008. Another.
BOYR 009. And another.
BOYR 010. Yet another.
BOYR 011. Another.
BOYR 012. It is harvest time and here is a shot of a few big rigs hauling wheat down to the elevator by river at the bottom of the grade. The grain is shipped from the elevator by barges.
BOYR 013. Notice the tight curve just ahead. You can bet these big rigs were geared down and going slow. You can see a little bit of the rig just in front of us.
BOYR 014. This is at the bottom of the grade. The elevator is just to the right after the railroad bridge. We will turn left for a few miles to get to Boyer Park.
BOYR 015. We didn’t get pictures of the entrance to the park, so here are some random shots of the marina area.
BOYR 016. Nate and Janna.
BOYR 017. This is a shot of the Almota Inn. This is park headquarters and it includes a small restaurant, etc. The marina area and river is to the left. The river is heading roughly north at this point, so we are looking north.
BOYR 018. Here is another view of the Inn. I believe the little building to the left is for people to have group gatherings.
BOYR 019. This is from the Inn, looking out towards the marina area.
BOYR 020. Nate and Janna waiting for me to pay the folks for our camping spot. This view is towards the south with the river to the right.
BOYR 021. Here is a wasted shot of me getting back into the pickup.
BOYR 022. Janna and Nate getting back into their pickup.
BOYR 023. This is a shot from our campsite at the south end of Boyer Park. There is a nice little swimming area being used by a group of WSU students.
BOYR 024. Another shot of the swimming area.
BOYR 025. And another shot of the swimming area.
BOYR 026. The WSU student’s camp site.
BOYR 027. This is looking the other way into our camp site as we prepare to put up the tents.
BOYR 028. This is looking north from our campsite towards one of several nice little gazebos around the campground. A little farther to the right is one of the restroom and shower facilities.
BOYR 029. Here is a closer shot of the restroom and shower facility.
BOYR 030. Here is a closer view of the gazebo. The sign says “Pack it in-pack it out.”
BOYR 031. Another shot of the students using the swimming area.
BOYR 032. This is a shot of some playground equipment with part of the swimming area in the background.
BOYR 033. This is a shot of the inside of the women’s restroom.
BOYR 034. A couple stalls.
BOYR 035. The shower area.
BOYR 037. Flush toilets. Oh oh! Out of toilet paper. That was the only problem we ran into. It is always a good idea to bring some TP with you.
BOYR 038. Back to our campsite and the effort to put up the tents.
BOYR 039. Some goofing off, first.
BOYR 040. Some results for Nate and Janna.
BOYR 041. Now I’m goofing off. This tent is nice once you get it put up, but it is a real pain to put up. To make matters worse, it looks like I am going to try to do it with just one hand.
BOYR 042. Identify the pieces for the top and tie them together with rope so they won’t come apart while working on the other parts.
BOYR 043. OK, it looks like all the side parts are identified and laid out by each corner. I must have left my bottle on the tail gait to avoid spilling it after I realized that I needed two hands to put up the tent.
BOYR 044. After putting in some tent stakes, it is time to assemble the side parts.
BOYR 045. I’m getting some help from Janna.
BOYR 046. As you can see, it’s probably best to have about four people to put up this tent.
BOYR 047. Now for a few final adjustments and it’s ready to go.
BOYR 048. Well, we did it, but the top part still isn’t quite right.
BOYR 049. My wife is laughing at me while taking this picture.
BOYR 051. This is the next morning by the swimming area.
BOYR 052. This is looking across the river by the entrance to the swimming area.
BOYR 054. This view is back towards the restroom facility from the swimming area.
BOYR 057. Another shot looking across the river.
BOYR 063. Looking towards the playground equipment from the swimming area.
BOYR 067. This is looking north into the marina area.
BOYR 068. Turning onto a little walking or bike path that extends from both sides of the park along the river.
BOYR 069. This is the path looking south from within the park.
BOYR 070. This is looking into the RV camping area. It rained a little bit this morning and we didn’t get the rain drops off of the lens.
BOYR 071. A shot of the path along side the marina looking north.
BOYR 072. Another look at the marina.
BOYR 073. Another look at the RV camping area.
BOYR 074. The marina, again.
BOYR 075. More of the path by the marina.
BOYR 076. The dock extending towards these slips is locked so only the boat owners can gain access.
BOYR 077. This is inside the other restroom and shower facility by the RV camping area.
BOYR 078. A stall.
BOYR 079. Looking towards the showers.
BOYR 080. Another shot of the wash basins.
BOYR 081. The RV camping area.
BOYR 083. More of the RV camping area.
BOYR 084. Another site within the RV camping area. I’m not sure if we got a good picture of it, but these RV sites each have electric, water, and waste water hook ups. There are some other RV sites at the south end that seem to have just water and electric hoop ups.
BOYR 087. Another RV campsite.
BOYR 088. Another one.
BOYR 090. We found one RV campsite with this interesting camp fire apparatus. This is the only one we saw.
BOYR 092. This shot more clearly shows the water, waste, and electric hook ups.
BOYR 094. Most of the RV campsites have these rather small type of camp fire apparatus.
BOYR 095. Here is a shot of two gazebos on either side of the playground equipment.
BOYR 096. This is a shot of some of the RV campsites towards the south end of the park. These sites are just east of our tent campsite. I believe that these sites have regular campfire rings. As I said before, I think these sites have just electric and water hook ups for the RV’s. These are nice sites.
BOYR 097. Here is a shot of our tent campsite just before we went home.
