Use: Use baby's breath to soften coarsely textured plants such as blanket flower, coneflower, and phlox. Or use it as a filler to hide the early dying foliage of poppies or spring flowering bulbs.
Culture: Gypsophilia is very delicate appearing, but is a very hardy plant. The plants are heavy feeders with deep roots, so prepare the soil before planting with sufficient organic matter. Apply lime if the soil is acid, but the thick roots should not come in contact with the lime. Well-drained soil is imperative for winter survival. Once the plants are established, they should not be disturbed.
